Disputing a charge with your bank

Short answer
Banks expect you to try the merchant first. If support doesn't resolve it, dispute the charge citing the gap between what was advertised and what was disclosed — with dates and screenshots. The descriptor on your statement may not match the site name.

Generic dispute note

Charge amount / date: [amount] on [date]
Billing descriptor on statement: [exact text from your statement]
Merchant / site: [product / site]
User timeline: [what you did, step by step]
Why I dispute this charge: [reason]
Evidence attached: [receipt, screenshots, cancellation request]
Merchant contact attempts: [dates and any replies]

This organizes your facts for your bank or card issuer. It does not guarantee a dispute outcome and it is not legal advice.
